Fibroid Care Clinic Update

White Rock, BC – Elevating women’s health with the most knowledgeable staff and innovative methods, the Fibroid Care Clinic offers comprehensive and compassionate care for women who are suffering from uterine fibroids.

Located in White Rock, BC the clinic opened in 2015 as an extension of Southern Heath Centre to provide unrestricted access to care, knowledge of fibroids and innovative treatment methods. The Fibroid Care Clinic facilitates consultations and coordination of care with a diverse set of specialists. This includes a partnership with Fraser Health and as well as the Pelvic Floor Clinic, Bladder Health Clinic and Abnormal Menstrual Bleeding Clinic at Southern Health Centre.

The doctors and their support staff have a patient centric focus and are knowledgeable and driven to make each appointment as informative and stress-free as possible. A personal care plan is created and may include multi-disciplinary services. This is to ensure the seamless access and timeliness of services for the most effective care for all women with fibroids.

“We want to enable and foster the most robust research and innovation in the area of fibroids,” said lead researcher and clinician Dr. Roy Jackson.  “It starts with raising public awareness and improving education around fibroids and their impact on women’s health.”

Dr. Roy Jackson saw an unmet need in the area and successfully applied for an educational grant. Then, in early 2016 The Fibroid Clinic was selected as one of only 2 British Columbia clinics to participate in a national registry of patients with fibroids. This meant that Dr. Roy Jackson and his team were able to take part in an national study assessing the management of women with uterine fibroids.

For patients wanting to see our specialists in our non-hospital based clinic a referral from a doctor is needed. Services at The Fibroid Clinic are covered by the Provincial Medical Services Plan (MSP). Future goals for the clinic are to expand beyond its brick and mortar space and include virtual appointments and an e-clinic.
